A Quick Catch-Up from The Lavender Project

Hey friends,

It’s been a busy few months over here at The Lavender Project, and I wanted to take a minute to fill you in on everything that’s been happening.

We started this project with a few donated books and a dream — to create a space where queer people of all ages can feel seen, connected, and celebrated. And honestly, it’s growing into something much bigger than I ever imagined.

What we’ve been up to

• We put together our first pop-up library collection — picture books, memoirs, graphic novels, and more. And it’s all free for anyone in the community.

• Amazing authors, publishers, and creators have sent books, stickers, Pride flags, and notes of support. The generosity has been incredible.

• We’ve attended a few local events, including Secret City Pride and other community gatherings, where we met so many amazing people and shared our mission. There’s still more happening this month! You can find info on upcoming events under the Events tab on the website.

• Our library checkout system is live now, and we’re in the process of setting up local book drop-offs to make borrowing even easier for the community.

• We received our first grant from the Trans Justice Funding Project, which is helping us grow and reach more people.

• We’re also currently in talks with local organizations about possible collaborations to better serve the community.

• And we now have a full website and domain, where you can explore the library, learn about events, and see all the ways to get involved.

Everything we’ve accomplished so far has happened because of this community — people like you who care and show up in big and small ways.

What’s next

We’re ready to take things further. We just launched The Lavender Fund on GoFundMe to help:

• Expand our mobile library and pop-up events

• Cover travel costs to reach small towns and communities

• Print flyers, bookmarks, and other materials

• Keep growing our library and resources for LGBTQ+ people of all ages
