The Lavender Project is committed to creating welcoming, affirming, and age-appropriate spaces for LGBTQ+ people and the broader community. These guidelines help ensure safety, respect, and care for everyone involved.
Community Guidelines
Respect & dignity first. Treat all people with kindness and care, regardless of identity, background, or beliefs.
Consent & boundaries matter. Respect personal space, comfort levels, and participation choices.
Inclusive by design. Discrimination, harassment, or hate speech of any kind is not tolerated.
Shared responsibility. Help keep our spaces safe, accessible, and welcoming.
Listen with openness. Our community includes many lived experiences—approach differences with curiosity and respect.
Age-Appropriate Participation
The Lavender Project offers age-appropriate events and programs designed for different audiences.
Some events are open to all ages, while others are designated for adults only.
Minors may attend or volunteer at appropriate events, and younger participants may be required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Event details will clearly note age expectations or restrictions when applicable.
Books & Materials
Materials shared at Lavender Project events are curated with age-appropriateness in mind.
Books or resources intended for adults, including titles with explicit content, are only available at adult-only events or kept out of general access.
Adult materials may be provided only upon request by a confirmed adult.
Code of Conduct
The following behaviors are not permitted:
Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination
Hate speech, slurs, or threatening language
Unwanted physical contact or invasive behavior
Disruptive or unsafe conduct
Bringing weapons or illegal substances into event spaces
Anyone asked to stop a behavior must do so immediately. Failure to comply may result in removal from the event or exclusion from future Lavender Project activities.
Safety & Support
Volunteers and organizers are present at events to provide support and assistance to attendees. For public events, we may coordinate with local services as needed to help ensure safety while maintaining a community-first approach.
Our Commitment
These guidelines are in place to protect the safety, dignity, and well-being of our community. We believe in care, accountability, and creating spaces where people of all ages can feel welcome and respected.
